  • OVERVIEW OF 2018 GARDEN GROUP ACTIVITIES

    PRESIDENT MARAN REEDER

Lincoln Hills Garden Group is alive and well. Thank you for checking our web site.

2018 was jam packed with activities including speakers at General Meeting, tours, socials and special shows and support of civic projects. I hope you were able to attend some or all of these.

    GENERAL MEETING:
We had eight speakers on diverse topics such as “Plants as Medicine” to how to get the fall bloom in your rose garden.

    TOURS:
We visited UC Davis Arboretum, the Japanese Garden in Granite Bay and the Waste Management Facility in Lincoln.

    SOCIALS:
Blossom Thyme Tea and Auction, Table Talk and Witches and Wizards Luncheon.

    HOME GARDEN TOUR:
In April we visited six beautiful back yards that reflected the owners appreciation of nature in this lovely community.

    SHOWS:
There was a little show off time as our members shared their gardening skills with the rest of the community in Flowers, Roses and Bonsai. 2019 will have these three shows at Orchard Creek Lodge.

    CIVIC PROJECTS:
Through the efforts and generosity of our members we donated $3,313 towards local Civic Projects. These include Lincoln High School Agriculture Program and the Old Fruitvale School. Our Club members help maintain the grounds and have work days. Perhaps you can help. For those less fortunate we donated to Bag of Life meals at Sierra College, the Placer Food Bank and the Salt Mine. We supported the Lincoln Community Gardens which also donated food grown there. We also donated to our Library and the Lincoln Hills Foundation.

We are friendly, we have fun, we help others. I hope you will continue to support our group and if you are not a member, you will join us. Dues are only $20.00 per household. Together we do make a difference.

2019 will be another exciting year. I look forward to greeting you at our General Meetings and other events. If you have a new neighbor, invite them. We can all “Garden on the Rocks”

    Best wishes, Marian
